Trouble with old MS song list.

i have a media shout song list that we used for all of our songs that uses a .ssc file extension and we used version 3.5. I have installed the free trial version of MS 4.5 and cant get the old song list to open up in the new version. Is there any way to get this file to open

  • Phillip,

Will the script load and just not play or all the cues grayed out? If so, it may just be the backgrounds need to be replaced. If not, try renaming it with something simple like "V3 script". If this fails, put the script in a zipped folder and email it to me. I will do what I can to get into it. Mouse over my avatar for my contact information.

We recently had a virus on the windows computer that we use for our worhsip services at our church. When we had all the virus' removed they also performed the latest windows critical updates. When we got the computer back and tried to open the older version of Media Shout (3.5) that we have used for years, it wouldn't open. I did some research and found that our older version of MS was not supported in windows 7 so I downloaded the 30 day trial of MS 4.5 ( that we plan on purchasing) and it worked like a charm. (Big upgrade from the 3.5 by the way.) Over time we have built a large library of songs that our worship team does that we get from the "Media Shout Song List" file which is listed as a .ssc file extension. When i try to access this file to import our song to the new MS 4.5 version, it will not open. In fact, it will lock the program up and I have to shut it down. I was wondering if there was any way that I can convert the file to a file extension that is compatible with the 4.5 (i may be wrong, but i believe .mdb is the file extension that is compatible) so we dont have to completely re-create our song list that we use?

  • Phillip,

The .ssc extension is a MediaShout script and should open. The .mdb is a database file and should be your song library(Songs3.mdb) If things are not working as expected, you may have corrupt files. Please give me a call and I will do what I can to salvage things.

  • Thanks for calling in.

For those following this topic, the issues was caused by a V3 script that contained over 100 cues. It just took a while (long while) to open and populate the data.
