Template Editor
It came up in another thread, but how about a true template editor. Instead of going through the process of going to the cue editor and formatting something to look the way we want the template to look, then using 'save as new template', why not have a template editor that could create the template itself from scratch? Thanks.

you could also use this to delete templates, such as a way to not delete using the manual method, as I posted Here

It would be REALLY helpful if you could have templates not make the whole slide one font. Instance #1 For an announcement, I want the first line 44 pt and bold, but I want the rest to be 36 pt and normal. #2 I made "lower third" names for the pastors and staff. The first line is 38 pt bold, the second line is 32 point italic.
Maybe adding a "title" or "header" to Text cues like in song cues that would have different properties. -

Hey, I thought I'd look over the MS forum while eating my lunch, and ta da, one of my old posts is at the top! Glad the MS folks are looking at the idea! Yea!

we love the ideas. keep 'em coming!

I would encourage this too.... there are times when the templates just don't work for certain slides and it sure would be nice to be able to edit it swiftly through a specified template editor

I'm a newbie to Media Shout, but am thinking this is a good idea. Separate from a template editor, though, I'd just like to be able to edit scripts in a completely separate editor, such as an XML or HTML or text editor so that I don't have to be at church or at a computer that has Media Shout loaded. We only have 3 licenses and those are all used up by computers at our two church locations. I'd like to be able to edit scripts at home to prep for Sunday.

This is an outstanding idea. I would like to drag and drop templates onto cues in the script. Imagine what an easy workflow that could be:
1. Drag and drop several songs into the script.
2. Drag and drop desired templates on those songs.
That could speed things along a whole lot for MS script-makers. And as long as the template architecture is dependable, this would make it less and less necessary to enter the template interface on a particular song. Simply drag and drop the template on that song. Then drag and drop a background video onto that song.
All of the mundane stuff (transitions, speed, shadow, song title placement, song credit placement) would be defined in the template. -

This all sounds great! Especially about having more than one font per cue. I have wanted to do that before, but lose the formatting when the template is reapplied!

I would be happy if i could just get the template to remember my font size. No matter how many times I save the template, it won't remember my font size. it is a pain to have to change the font on every slide each time I create a new song.

Make sure you are in the foreground tab and have CUE highlighted. Then right click on the T at your templates and select template properties. Make sure you have format checked under foreground. Then while in advance view click on format and make sure that is how you want it set. Then all you have to do is save to that template.

It sounds like you are setting the font size on the page level and not the Cue level. Only Cue level settings are saved to the template. So just in case my assumption is correct, here is how you do it. Open the editor on foreground. Make sure Cue is highlighted. Expand Default Cue Font. Make your changes. In case you don't see what is in the pic, make sure "View" is set to advanced. Then click the "T" Ken mentioned and select Save to Template or Save to New Template.

I would like the template editor to give more font size choices and I would like to be able to create templates especially for songs sung in parts.
-
You can type in any size font you want above the text box.

Oh my goodness, this would be AMAZING. It's SUCH a PAIN to go through and change each slide so that you can distinguish the two parts!! AND THEN if you change the BG and need to change the font color, you still have to edit each slide because if you do it on the cue level, it puts all the font sizes at the same or the color as the same or not italicized/bolded/whatever you use to distinguish the parts. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add the ability to do this!!

I like that idea of a something like Shoutwriter (which I still use) to do all my text work. so that it is a seperate file. I just wish I could get SW to a 1024x768. It won't go above 800x600. That being said it could also be creator error on my part

Are we talking about having a way to create a template where multiple elements are changed simultaneously with only 1 to 2 clicks? Such as, Click on the "Red Grunge" template to change all backgrounds to the same "Red Grunge" background image, and have a distinguishable "Red Grunge" style title page, and be able to have say 3-4 backgrounds that are slightly different for different elements; such as "red grunge plain" for song lyrics, "red grunge with banner" for a title page, "red grunge with 1 dark square for text" background. Kind of in the same way you can change a powerpoint theme of microsoft powerpoint!
if so, this would be EEEEXXXXCCCCEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLEEEEENNNNTTTT!
Boy that would cut down on setup time...-
If I am understanding you correctly, most, if not all of what you suggest is already possible. Once you make changes to a template, you can save the changes as a new template. Then it's just a matter of applying the template to the cue.

Yes, but what would be cool if templates saved each "stanza" 's unique background. We tend to use darker or desaturated versions behind words and "original" bolder higher contrast of the same image for the "blank" and "title" pages.
