A new build of MediaShout Version 3.5 has recently been released (12/30/09) as updates for existing users. This update includes:
- CCLI SongSelect Import change: Once again, CCLI has updated their SongSelect interface to better track song usage.
To import songs, users will need to select the 'Export to SongSelect 3.0 (.usr format)' option. We have also included text inside the MediaShout SongSelect Import window to direct users to the proper selection.
To install this update on a MediaShout computer with Internet connection, open MediaShout and go to 'Help > Check For Updates'. The 'Check for Updates' feature is included to keep you up to date in case you miss any of our update emails and forum posts.
If your computer is not connected to the Internet and you need to download from another location, you can download directly from the link below.
Download build 742
Please Note
Version 3.5 is required before installing b742. If you haven't already updated to version 3.5, you can download the updates to version 3.5 and b742 from this link:

I ran the update, and it installed successfully. However, upon following the procedures to add a song from Song Select (Add New Song from Song Select > Find the Song > Click on EXPORT), I encounter a RUNTIME ERROR and a Debug Message appears, then Media Shout throws an UNEXPECTED ERROR AND NEEDS TO CLOSE message, then just shuts down. Repeating the process reproduces the results. I also tried to save as TEXT FILE (.txt), and it also produces the same RUNTIME ERROR Results. Any ideas????

Can I use the 3.5 patch to update a new installation of Media Shout 3.0 on a new PC to update it to the latest version of MS3?
-
-
I have been having problems downloading CCLI lyrics for a while now. I have found that I can copy to clipboard, go to shoutsinger, choose new song, from file, browse, right click and insert a new txt file, paste the lyrics (clipboard info), and then it imports in in my template. a few extra steps but better than typing.
-
Deb - A couple of questions. Are you using the most recent MediaShout update? Have you checked to make sure that Flash Player is updated?

My MediaShout has lost the lyric template in Shoutsinger. Is there a way I can get it back? Does this new patch allow lyrics to be moved from Song Select to Media Shout in one easy step? This would be a dream.

The new up date should resolve any Song Select Issue you were having. As far as the Template goes, if it was accidently deleted you can recover it be opening a script that was using it. Once the script is open, open the cue that is using the template in the cue properties box, click the content tab, click the Template properties button and select save to template.

Does this update Version 4.4, build 144 now include "duplicate" slide. For whatever reason MediaShout removed this feature in version 4???? It is a must have for on-the-fly sermon notes!!

I've updated to version 3.5 build 742. When I select a song to import using 'Export to SongSelect 3.0 (.usr format)' on the CCLI website a series of text boxes pop up automatically (it appears to be a series of automated save file dialogues) and it seems to complete whatever process it is supposed to go through to import the song into Song Select. When I search for the song, it is nowhere to be found in Song Select after this process. It does save a .usr file on my computer. Do I need to import this file into MediaShout? I've tried every import file option and none of them can see this file through the dialogue that come up through the Import File options. Please help me figure this out if any of this makes sense. Thanks!

If you have a song Group called SongSelect then you may have to move the newly imported songs into the song Group. Look in "All Songs" to see if it's there.
-
-
If it is saving them to a different location, try saving a CCLI song as a text file and see if it will expose the location. If it.s not the song library folder, then point the text file to that folder and the next time you download the songs it will put them in the proper place.

I have windows 7 with version 3.5 and i cant Play Movie Clip (.mpg) and i dont know watt to do??
-
V3.5 is no longer in development and is not supported on Windows 7. That being said, all I can offer you is to follow the instructions for Installing Codecs for Video and DVD Playback in MediaShout Hopefully this will resolve the issue. If not, please upgrade to V4.5.

John,
I was wondering if you could help me. We have version 3.5, and our old laptop died. I've been assigned the task of finding a new one. I can't finda a laptop with dual video cards. But, as you know, most laptops have the ability to view what is on the laptop LCD screen, and then send another signal via a VGA or DVI port, out to a projector (which is how we intend to use it). Also, I can only find laptops on the market that have Windows 7 on it. What should we do?
Mick-
Mick,
There really is no simple answer, but you do have options. I think a call will benefit us both in determining the best course of action for your ministry. Shoot me an email with your contact info and a good time to call. Mouse over my avatar for my address. -

Have you contacted Dell or looked at their website? We just got a new Dell Precision 6600. LOVE IT!

I installed the update successfully. We now cannot play videos. Has anyone else had this problem? If yes, how can I fix it?

I wish I could help, but V3 is not supported on this version of Windows. However you can try the following.

we use Mediashout 3.5 in our ministry and are looking
to upgrade our laptop computer - it most likely will
have windows 8 operating system - will our Mediashout 3.5
work with Windows 8??-
Sorry Pastor,
V3.5 has been out of active development for close to 3 years now. Unfortunately it is no longer supported and was never designed for or tested on Windows 7 or 8.
My recommendation would be to upgrade to V4.5. Currently the cost is $219. -
