NEW MAC BUILD: v1.1.4986

Edit Subject

MediaShout for Mac v1.1.4986 has recently been released as an update for existing users.

Updates & Fixes Include:

OS 10.7 (Lion) compatibility

Included an Uninstaller in the DMG that removes application, while retaining song and Bible libraries, user preferences, and template files

Many other bug fixes throughout the application

A complete list of fixes can be found here.

UNINSTALL, REBOOT, INSTALL
Once the DMG is downloaded and mounted, please run the Uninstaller file to remove older MediaShout for Mac builds. This uninstaller will retain song & Bible libraries, user preferences, and templates, but is required for optimal performance. If you have problems launching MediaShout for Mac after installing, please reboot your computer and run the installer again.

But unfortunately unable to play keynote or Power point from within media shout. These are big problems for us as this is used very regularly.

  The main problem is when trying to post or edit cues with video loops or movies. The software continues to crash or simply not even open. It seems to be more stable otherwise but there are still times when the software crashes with no indication as to why.

Just completed crossgrade to Mac, MShout crashes upon adding any kind of video file or when trying to fire a lyric slide, then crashes upon reopening repeatedly. Will not run whatsoever. off to a terrible start, even though it seemed to work fine on the trial version a few months back before switching.

Seems that this hosed our SongSelect import ability and lost our song groups as well.

Using build Version 1.1.5038 (5038) and still having crash issues. Primarily in the script set up. Play back seems to work. I'm the youth pastor, it's really bad though when the worship pastor is ready to write off Media Shout for Mac because of these issues even though we are migrating all our ministries to Mac. When is the next update?

Using b5111. MS only crashed once during live use. Then it wouldn't re-open the presentation. I still can't get the presentation to open so I had to build it again from scratch for another use. I still see so many of the same bugs from builds all the way back to beta - Editing text causes slide to blank out, lock-ups, crashing while building presentations, constant debilitating bugs that make presentation building excruciating. Frankly, this program has never been able to be used live with confidence. With each new build I keep hoping for it to be that promised "ground up" fix that will allow MS Mac to be what it was promised and each new build brings more of the same. I seriously hate to buy another $400+ piece of software but I'm running out of hope that MS mac will ever truly be the stable, usable program it claims to be.

Kevin, just so you know you are not the only one with these same issues. We have never really been able to use this software with any level of confidence. In fact we are not using it at all any longer as its just too buggy. We are just hoping at some point the MS will do the right thing and make this software program ready for prime time which at this point is certainly is not. Rick...

Although there are a few annoying bugs we have found the latest builds very stable with no crashes in the last few presentations. Only problems we have found is exporting and importing and problems accessing groups in the song library. However b5111 does not operate on snow leopard very well, but seems to be better on lion. Previous beta works better on snow leopard.

Running 5111 as well and it crashes at least once per week on Lion with same previous problems. Must restart TWICE before Media Shout will open again after a crash...

Just tried to use MS for a weekend event. Absolutely awful. Spent hours on a presentation that it decided to stop opening. Editing any kind of text is so painful with the blanking out screens. Spent 15 minutes trying to get a piece of text to italicize only to have it refuse to do so and blank out each time. Text! Of all things that most basic doesn't even work. At the end of the day however, I actually had to scrap Media Shout and just use Power Point and the beta of ProPresenter 5.

I have to say that MS has some of the best support people ever. They always take as much time as needed to help out. Great folks at Media Shout. I just don't get why the product is so bad. I really feel like we need to hear some strait forward, transparent discussion from Media Complete acknowledging these issues and what their actual plans are for making it work and where they really are on these issues.

PC version was never this bad. Mac version should be free till it works. No update in 4 months, what gives. You are lucky we only use this on Sunday, otherwise if it were during the week you would receive so many phone calls.
You have the resources to correct this, do it.

So we switched to ProPresenter about 2 months ago and have been so happy with our decision to switch. I really liked the people at Media Complete, great customer service - but the program just plain didn't work. For $400 I expect an out of the box fully functioning application. It was so embarrassing to have Media Shout crash in the middle of a worship service.

For the record, Media Complete has vastly better customer service, but ProPresenter just plain works and at the end of the day, it's not customer service that's on the screen.
