MediaShout 3.5 build 742 running on Windows Vista 32bit with K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 5.7.0. Within the last month MediaShout has started locking up as soon as it finishes playing a mp4 video. I've spent several hours working on the machine today, I uninstalled every unneeded piece of software and installed all Windows updates except Vista SP 1. I also installed the latest updates for MediaShout and K-Lite however the problem continues to occur. It doesn't lockup with all video formats, wmv. mpg and flv work fine, but it locks up after playing mp4s and it won't even load an mov, it give a "File cannot be loaded" error.
Any Help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Switch your klite settings for mov and mp4 to Gabest from Halli.

David Hulbert June 10, 2010 18:34This fix the problem for us too. We did: Start, All Programs, K-Lite, Codec tweak tool, Manage preferred source filters, then change HDMOV MOV to Gabest.EditDeleteRemove

To add to what Ken suggested you may need to download the Quicktime Alternative 1.81. to get mov to work.
Install using the default settings. -

MediaShout 4.4 b158 will crash too at the end of playing an MP4 file. Switching to Gabest from Halli will also fix the problem, however, why does MediaShout crash in any respect if Halli was used even after playing the entire video?
Media Player Classic doesn't crash and neither does Windows Media Player at the end of the same video that crashes MediaShout. All three programs are dependent on the same decoders. What player mechanism is used inside MediaShout? Could it be made to be more robust?
Thanks,
John-
to make a long story short. It will work but takes sometime working with the codecs, klite, and qt alternative to make it work for certain videos. Depending on how the video was encoded you may run into a situation that you will have to change it to Halli to make it work with the audio. If your not very sure about klite and codecs in general then I'd suggest converting to WMV.
